- process design: practices the need to deliver an output that meets the requirement of the customer.
- process flow mapping (a tool that facilities process design).
- allows organizations to gain an understanding of what is done within a process (example: input and what the flow of process is).
- improves internal communication.
- development of product characteristic or the house of quality are tools that allows designer to consider all factors that influences the design of a service.
- a service blueprint is also another tool used in service design which requires service designer to define service concepts, coordinate service function and evaluate performance.
- process improvement: proactive task of management aimed at continual monitoring of a process and its outcome and developing ways to enhance its future performance.
- involves problem solving.

a. general sales agent (GSA)
- a travel intermediary who becomes an appointed exclusive distributor for a particular travel product. usually acts as that product's full representative and gets and gets commission for most sales.

b. code share
- single flight sold to 2 or more carriers under the codes of different carriers which means passenger would buy ticket with carrier A but will fly abroad with carrier B.

c. minimum connecting time (MCT)
- shortest time interval necessary for transferring from one flight to another. there is a standard MCT for each airport listed in the Official Airlines Guide (OAG) flight guide and travel agents must adhere to MCT when arranging flight itineraries.

d. waitlist
- passengers awaiting for confirmation of a requested flight that is or are currently fully booked. passengers are normally listed for their preferred flight and confirmed on a second choice in the event that the airline cannot confirm them from a waitlist.

e. single supplement
- an additional charge paid by a tour participant who is traveling alone and chooses to occupy a double occupancy. it is recommended to point out the single supplement rate in the brochure and make sure client fully understand how it will affect the tour rate in the brochure by reading the tour operator's policy on single supplement.

f. incentive tour
- holidays given to company's executive for meeting sales or productivity target. usually require higher standard of service and facilities than just regular tours available from travel agents.

g. deported

h. ticket on departure (TOD)
- a procedure where the t.agent makes special arrangement for a passenger's ticket to be issued by airline staff at the departure airport.

i. infant/babies.

- babies are not entitled to a seat and must be accompanied by an adult. if 2 children under the age of 2 are traveling with one adult, a seat must usually be purchased and a child fare paid.
- most airlines will arrange for baby baskets to be available especially long distance flights. basket and baby food should be arranged in advance.

j. room block
